The Roundup Backpack Sprayer 190426 is a great little sprayer with a lot of versatility for the price. This backpack sprayer works well for cleaning, sealing, fertilizing, and pest control. Keep reading for the full review!
As an owner of my brand, I know how important it is to be able to expand into different markets. You typically try to expand to something that is at least similar to your original line of work to bring a certain expertise and reputation with you. I understand that and actually encourage that way of thinking to young entrepreneurs.
When a big brand does it though I am usually a little hesitant. Will a chemical company make a quality backpack sprayer? Even if you have never used any of their products you’ve probably seen one of their commercials. The one where they have like a cowboy killing weeds with their product to the sound of western music. They are a leading brand when it comes to weed killers and fertilizers. What about sprayers though?

It does make sense for them to go into backpack sprayers. I just hadn’t seen one from them until I came across the Roundup Backpack Sprayer 190426. Just based on look alone it seems a lot less bulky than other backpack sprayers I was more accustomed to using. So I decided to do some research on it.
One of the first things that stood out to me was that it claimed to have a Heavy duty poly wand with shut-off featuring comfort grip. Poly wands are usually an issue with many of the other brands. They become wobbly while spraying especially at high pressure or higher altitudes. Roundup claims that this poly wand won’t, let's hope so!
Although it is not that bulky, it does hold 4 gallons of liquid and weighs 11 pounds. That is not exactly an easy task on your back if you don't have the proper support. I particularly like the fact that it comes with adjustable padded straps with waist belt and built-in lumbar support. The straps are like any other, but the lumbar support makes it easier on those of us with chronic back issues. As far as performance when it comes to spraying, it comes with what has become a standard for these types of products.4 nozzles for ultimate versatility: adjustable brass, high volume fan, low volume fan and foaming nozzle. I would imagine that they tested them out with all of their chemical products. So the chemical resistant part is something that you could probably rest assured will work fine and be durable.
The Roundup Backpack Sprayer 190426 has mostly positive reviews around the web, and most of them seem quite honest.
The device itself is a bit heavy so I am not surprised to see people complain about its weight and maneuverability. A woman in the reviews suggested not filling the full 4-gallon tank at once. Only filling it halfway makes it lighter and in turn more mobile. So there is a little tip for anyone who thinks they might have some trouble in that department.
As far as glaring issues there only seems to be one main one. That is the issue with the pump. It works fine for a while then it seems to get stuck. A couple of people claimed to have had issues with the pump.
The problem is that the whole system depends on a couple of rubber band like parts that allow the pump to work correctly and provide the pressure needed for spraying. Over time these rubber bands wear out and need to be replaced. Primarily if you use it in challenging environments and it gets wet, then you leave it out to dry in the sun. This will cause the whole system to not function properly as it doesn’t have enough lubrication to run smoothly.
It is an issue that a lot of these sprayers end up having. With proper care, this can be avoided. And all in all, it is a pretty easy fix. I do understand though that there are those of us who want no part in playing mechanic. In that case, just hope if it does break down it is before your warranty runs out!
I understand that isn’t the most reassuring statement while considering a purchase. In this case, sadly it is a possibility. On the other hand, buying another brand might not save you from those problems either.
Actually, some people claim this is a better product than the Solo. I don’t know if I agree just yet, but I do think this was probably the more battle-tested sprayer out there. Even so, it has these small flaws.
I am going to call the Roundup Backpack Sprayer 190426 a solid buy!
As far as the price goes this is one of the best products at a price to performance ratio. It is only around $70, which is low for a 4-gallon backpack sprayer these days.
It can work with the best of them when fully healthy so to speak. The biggest reason I don’t hesitate to give this product a high grade is that even if you buy any other brand that doesn’t guarantee you’ll be exempt from problems. A lot of these backpack sprayers present the same issues. Again not the most reassuring argument, but the most truthful one I can find. I think the biggest upside to this product is its chemical resistance. You can literally go down the aisle of Round Up products from weed killers to fertilizers, to even plain water, and you know that they will all work properly. Overall you are getting a good product at a very reasonable price.
I know I may have left some loose ends on this product. That is because ultimately it is your job to connect the dots. If you aren't sure where to begin, start with this short guide to help you find the right backpack sprayer for your requirements.
For me this is a serviceable product, that will get the job done. If you are still not convinced or want to do a little more research on your own I suggest that you visit the Roundup 190426 Commercial Backpack Sprayer Amazon page.
