The Solo 435 5-Gallon Professional Backpack Sprayer is a durable and versatile backpack sprayer with a larger capacity than most sprayers. The ergonomic design helps it to remain relatively comfortable considering it's large capacity. If you have a large area to spray or just don't like refilling often, the Solo 435 might be the sprayer for you!
Mankind, in general, is always trying to build bigger and better things in its search for progress. This doesn’t mean that bigger is always better, though. Manufacturers know that just stacking up quality parts will not necessarily result in an excellent overall product. At least that is the global consensus. Sometimes they decide to take all of the benefits from previous products and morph them into a new one. This was essentially what Solo did for their Solo 435 5-Gallon Professional Backpack Sprayer. This is the Frankenstein of Solo backpack sprayers. Bigger, with more overall positive features, but could we say it is actually better? Let’s find out!
The Solo 435 5-Gallon Professional Backpack Sprayer, as suggested by the name, comes with 5-gallon tank. One of the few in the Solo line that strays away from the 4-gallon tank.
The Solo 435 shares the 4 nozzle system like many others in the Solo family. In this case, the 4 nozzle system is very well complimented with an adjustable pressure regulator with four positions: 15, 30, 45, 60 psi. That way you can choose the perfect spray method for each individual need. You can also adjust the nozzle to a stream allowing you to spray with up to 90 psi. With the piston pump at full capacity, you can spray a distance of over 30 ft.
Overall that combination of features works very well together. Quite frankly it’s hard to see why they don’t include it in more of their products. Like most Solo products the Solo 435 5-Gallon Professional Backpack Sprayer is capable of handling many types of chemicals including liquid disinfectants, fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and more. All of these are sprayed through a 28-inch wand they claim to be indestructible. Also, the Solo 435 comes standard with deluxe padded straps and a waist belt for better comfort while operating. Minimizing the strain on shoulders and back.
The Solo 435 5-Gallon Professional Backpack Sprayer weighs more than some of the other backpack type sprayers out there, but it also holds more liquid with its 5-gallon capacity. However, it isn’t as bulky as one could imagine. The straps and belt aren't exactly luxurious, but they do make it a lot more manageable.
The wand feels sturdy, and it does not wobble at all. The nozzle can easily be changed from one spray format to the other. The same type of performance from the pressure regulator so far. The only constant fear is that these plastic pieces will not be durable. That being said so far so good so no complaints just yet. It claims an extra large tank opening, but in reality, they are not that much different than the tank openings from other Solo products. That is not to say that the tank openings are small, just not a huge upgrade over some of their other models. Definitely a passing grade for the Solo 435 5-Gallon Professional Backpack Sprayer without a doubt!
The Solo 435 5-Gallon Professional Backpack Sprayer has a few strong points we really liked.
The first thing we noticed is the quality we've come to expect from Solo. Everything about the Solo 435 is durable and built to last. The tank is a sturdy, high-density poly (HDPE). The wand is a reinforced PVC, the fit is great, and the wand doesn't feel wobbly like some brands.
The versatility of the Solo 435 5-Gallon Professional Backpack Sprayer is also fantastic. The four-nozzle assortment combined with Solo's proven piston pump makes for an excellent all-around sprayer.
This is a 5-gallon backpack sprayer which makes it one of the larger capacity options. If you have a big job to do and don't want to be refilling all day, the Solo 435 sprayer might be the sprayer for you. The extra size does add a little weight if this is a concern for you it might be worth looking into a smaller capacity sprayer or upgrading the shoulder straps.
Not much to complain about here. If anything the only “problem” is getting yourself to pump, carry, and spray for an extended period of time. Especially on a sweltering day, it becomes an arduous task. We really can’t count that against the Solo 435, though. We knew from the start we were going to have to pump. Also, a minor stain that is not exclusive to this model is that for maximum comfort you simply have to buy the Solo Harness. This is an expectation shared by the whole Solo Backpack sprayer line, not just the Solo 435 backpack sprayer.
I give it 4 stars!
The Solo 435 5-Gallon Professional Backpack Sprayer is an excellent choice. Whether it is perfect for you comes down to how heavy duty your needs are. If you have to use it on an acre or more of land, or just don't like refilling all the time, this is one of the better options out there.
The versatility of the sprayer nozzles included with the Solo 435, in addition to compatibility with TeeJet nozzles means you'll be able to handle all sorts of jobs with this one sprayer. The durability and proven Solo piston pump design means it will last.
